Hey everyone! If you’ve read my most recent blog post then you know that a lot has been happening on my end of the world! Not only did I become a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant but I have also been busy with other passion projects!
School:
For those of you who do not know, I am a 2nd-year Naturopathic Medical Student and while I am loving this crazy journey of being a med student, it is filled to the brim with stress, deadlines, exams, quizzes, practicals, clinic shifts, preceptoring, etc. It became so stressful that I decided to extend my studies an extra year and begin the 5-year track. I really wrestled with this decision because I felt as though I was weak or unable to handle the stress of a rigorous program. The truth was that I owed it to myself to finish the program in a way that would keep me healthy, my marriage whole, and give me space & time to absorb this information. To top it all off Chris & I are ready to start a family & stress is definitely not healthy for conception.
Needless to say, the decision to switch to the 5-year track has been the best decision that I have made for myself this year. I have so much less stress, more time to dedicate to my health, my husband, and our family.
Business:
You all may have also forgotten that I am an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach (certified through IIN). In fact, I started this blog around the time that I enrolled in nutrition school back in 2014 and since then I have been trying to figure out what to do with this certification. I have had a handful of clients who I’ve helped but the work never really seemed satisfying. Last year, I finally figured it out! I have transformed my health coaching practice into a fertility coaching & doula birth support practice called Motherhood Manifested! I am so excited because I love ALL things fertility, pregnancy, & birth so what better way to use my nutrition education than to teach & guide women how to use nutrition & lifestyle changes to increase their chances of getting pregnant?!
Motherhood Manifested will be launching in May of this year & I am so excited to start changing the lives of women all around the world!
Self-Work:
Yall, I have been working so hard on Sarah! I see a therapist 2x a month & with her help, I have been digging deep to discover the true reasons why I think the way that I do, do the things that I do, & love the way that I do. I plan on writing a post about therapy & self-work soon but I just have to tell you my appointment with my therapist is one that I NEVER miss!! Never. She is my sounding board. A sweet, validating voice. And one of careful correction. She calls me out on my BS and gently nudges me when I’m being too hard on myself and not seeing the progress that I have been making. If you are interested in getting started on your own journey of self-work, here are some books that have been life-affirming for me:
- Braving the Wilderness- Brene Brown
- Eat, Pray, Love – Elizabeth Gilbert
- The Four Agreements– don Miguel Ruiz
- The Gifts of Imperfection- Brene Brown
If you can’t tell already, I love Brene Brown! I feel like she & I are soul-sisters. She manages to turn all of my feelings into eloquently arranged words that shine a new light on how I view myself as a woman. She’s the greatest!
And that, my loves, is a quick & random synopsis of what my life has been like for the last 6 months or so. What have you all been up to? Let me know in the comments below! I wanna cheer you on, support you, & encourage you!
Xo,
Sarah
